Scale & Proportion

Latona rises in gilded tiers beneath a gathering storm — and the size you choose decides whether the room shelters from that sky or lives under it.

The frame is cinematic and the energy sits low and central: Latona pale at the summit of her basin, gilded figures ringing the tiers below her, a single bird crossing the turning sky. Symmetry wants to sit centered and level — with the lower edge 8–12 inches above a console, chaise, or low sideboard, the composition reads from seated and standing positions alike. Width governs firmly at nearly twice as wide as tall; the tiers need clearance to either side before the storm-lit sky can hold a wall. Smaller formats keep the veining in the marble and the individual figures at the fountain's base legible up close. Chosen large, the work becomes the storm-lit horizontal the room arranges itself around.

  • Lateral Clearance — 12–18 in (30–46 cm) per side for small works; 18–30+ in (46–76+ cm) for large
  • Hang Height — lower edge 8–12 in (20–30 cm) above the furniture, read from seated and standing
  • Artwork Width — 70–85% of the console or sofa width beneath it
  • Viewing Distance — 5–8 ft (1.5–2.4 m) close; 8–14 ft (2.4–4.3 m) for the full composition
