Scale & Proportion

The frame is wide, but the chapel climbs — and the size you choose decides how far up the room follows.

Walls of stained glass rise on either side and draw the eye inward to the apse, where the lancet windows gather the light. The format is a classic landscape, so width governs what the wall must give: symmetry reads as calm only when there is clearance to either side. Hang height carries the lift — with the lower edge 8–12 inches above a console or sideboard, the glass has room to soar while still resolving from a seated view. At modest sizes the cobalt and crimson hold their jeweled tracery close. Chosen large, the chapel becomes the luminous axis of a room, and everything else takes its bearing from it.

  • Lateral Clearance — 12–18 in (30–46 cm) per side for small works; 18–30+ in (46–76+ cm) for large
  • Hang Height — lower edge 8–12 in (20–30 cm) above the furniture, read from seated and standing
  • Artwork Width — 70–85% of the console or sofa width beneath it
  • Viewing Distance — 5–8 ft (1.5–2.4 m) close; 8–14 ft (2.4–4.3 m) for the full sweep of color
